Walk with Jesus to the Cross: A Practical Guide
Walk With Jesus to the Cross – And Be Changed
What would happen if you did more than remember the cross this Lent?
What if you walked with Jesus there?
Not as a spectator. Not as a distant believer. But as a disciple who listens, obeys, and responds to the voice of the Holy Spirit each day.
Lent gives you a window. Forty days to slow down. Forty days to clear space. Forty days to let God deal with your heart in a deeper way.
This month’s article we’ve prepared for you is not theory. It is a practical guide. It will help you walk step by step with Jesus on the road to the cross and live this season with purpose.
You will be challenged to surrender. To pray like Jesus prayed. To lay down your will and trust the Father again. Where are you still holding control? What would change if you placed that area into God’s hands today?
You will be invited to fast from distractions that dull your hunger for God. Not just food, but noise. Screens. Habits that crowd out His voice. When you remove what fills your time but drains your spirit, you make room for fresh encounters with Him.
You will learn how to take up your cross in real life. In traffic. At work. At home. In conversations that test your patience. Following Jesus is not abstract. It shows up in how you respond when you feel misunderstood, overlooked, or stretched. The Holy Spirit will meet you in those moments and give you power to choose His way.
You will be led into silence before God. Many believers talk to God. Fewer sit still with Him. When you become quiet before the Lord, you begin to recognise His voice with greater clarity. You discover that you do not need to defend yourself. You can trust Him to lead and vindicate you.
You will face the call to forgive. The cross makes forgiveness unavoidable. Jesus released those who nailed Him there. Who do you need to release? When you forgive, you step into freedom. Bitterness loses its grip. Your heart becomes lighter.
You will spend time at the foot of the cross. Not rushing past it. Not softening it. Letting the reality of Christ’s sacrifice shape your identity again. He chose the cross out of love. When that truth sinks deep, gratitude rises. Worship becomes real.
You will be reminded that you are not doing this alone. The Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you. He strengthens you when you feel weak. He prompts you to pray. He gives you courage to obey. Each day can begin with a fresh invitation: “Holy Spirit, fill me and lead me.”
You will be stirred to serve. Jesus knelt and washed feet on the night He was betrayed. Following Him means choosing humility in ordinary moments. A quiet act of kindness. A word of encouragement. A practical help that costs you something.
And you will lift your eyes to the resurrection. The cross is not the end. Death gives way to life. Every act of surrender makes space for new growth. Every step of obedience plants a seed that will bear fruit.
This is your invitation.
Do not let Lent pass as another date on the calendar. Let it become a turning point. Let it shape how you pray, how you speak, how you serve, and how you depend on the Holy Spirit.
